College Visits and Career Investigation Days
College Visits can help a student decide whether or not a campus is a good fit.
- Contact a school's admissions department to schedule a tour and review a College Visit checklist.
- JUNIORS and SENIORS are allowed 2 excused absences each year to visit colleges. (Local Policy 6.5.1)
- Students must pick up a college visit form from the Attendance Office and have it signed by a representative from the college.
- Students are responsible for notifying their teachers of their absence and making arrangements for missed assignments.
Career Investigation days can be used to shadow a professional in a field of the student’s career interest.
- JUNIORS and SENIORS are allowed 2 excused absences each year for Career Investigation days (Beginning in 2023-2024 school year, Texas Senate Bill 68)
- Students must pick up a Career Investigation Approval from the Attendance Office. This form must be submitted to the student’s grade level administrator PRIOR to the student’s absence. It must then be signed by the workplace professional and submitted by the student to their grade level administrator following the absence.
- Students are responsible for notifying their teachers of their absence and making arrangements for missed assignments.
